Hello! My name is Benjamin Anderson and I’m a student in IT at University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee.
Professional Background
I started my formal learning in Wilmot High School where I took classes in web design, IT basics, and block programming. After high school, I spent 4 years working part time towards a software development degree at Gateway Technical College in Kenosha. During this time I learned the basics of computer science with further classes on web development, application development, databases, and more. At the start of fall 2023 I enrolled at the University of Wisconsin — Milwaukee to work towards a bachelor’s degree in IT.
Personal Background
I’ve been using computers since I was about 6 years old, and I’ve been intrigued by them since. My first experience with programming was using the coding system built in to the video game Minecraft. I enjoyed using those systems to create my own mini games and custom stories. Using command blocks gave me my first introduction to many foundational concepts such as loops, binary, variables, and more.
Later in high school I learned the basics of Python and scripting, which I still use today as a sort of “comfort language” for personal projects. I also continue to publish video content on Youtube that I find interesting or entertaining. Lately have been spending my personal time working on developing Cyberpunk 2077 mods, which has introduced me to all aspects of game development from 3D modeling to scripting and everything in between.
